I have always wanted a woolly mammoth, so I thought I would try my hand at the Hairy Elephant as my first pedal build. The whole process was a breeze with easy to follow instructions and a decent drilling template. I haven't labelled it yet as my wife wants to do the artwork on the pedal, but I debut it live last night and it was killer.

The bass I'm planning to install this preamp is still under construction but it looks good and is really compact size. Being smaller than regular 9V battery I believe it will be easy install even for smaller cavities. Will update the review regarding the sound when I finish building the bass.

This is a really nice pedal. It does exactly what it says. Has a great amount of range even with just the two knobs. The toggle gives you a bit more depth when in the down position. Very expressive, great control and a lovely balanced phaser sound the entire sweep. Can set it from a dreamy, subtle roll to a speedy, almost Leslie like sound at the other extreme. Socketed C5, C6. C7 and C8 and the suggested mod works great. Not quite Uni-Vibe but leaning in that direction and gives a more expressive Phaser sound. I left the C7 as 1nf (film) and it sounds nice. Very cool build.

This was a fun build that turned out to be an absolutely stonking fuzz. So much range, from just on subtle, smooth fuzz to a roaring thick rip. Heaps of volume on tap and the tone has a really wide sweep that is controlled all the way through. The octave up is delicious. Very easy to manage and has that slightly ring modulated/synth sound that I was hoping for. Used some D312A's in D1 and D2 and they worked nicely.

A really dynamic, expressive fuzz that has a lot of great sounds.

This was a great build to do (my second) and so satisfied with the results. Not a hard build so a good one to start with.
It's ended up at the beginning of my pedal train and mostly used for that slight breakup or mild crunch. Great in combo with another drive pedal further in the chain. Its particularly good in that it doesn't change your guitars original tone but adds the necessary crunch/texture.. It can really drive hard also if that's what you need.

Being a bit underwelmed by the tone control on my EMG Active P. I decided to give this preamp a go because I like the idea of adjusting high and low mids in a band mix. It's fantastic. Prior to installing this preamp, I would never use this bass and was getting ready to sell the EMGs.

I ordered this pot to replace a faulty one in a Fender PBass special. Exact fit and much higher quality than the stock part.

Absolutely NUTS for this build, highly recommend. I think the original PLL pedal is wild enough for anyone but this goes even further. They've added aaaaaall the weird extras and add-ons that Mr Schumann created later and put them on the one PCB so they can live in the same enclosure. CV-Out too, bonkers.
