Once upon a time there was an incredible bass fuzz pedal made by an Australian company called Chunk Systems; the Brown Dog Fuzz. Unfortunately they haven't been in production for over a decade now and on the rare occasion they do come up for sale they aren't going cheap.
For the first few production runs I relied on a few different schematics I found online, photos of the inside of an original and referencing the few demo recordings around.
Eventually I was able to get my hands on an original and do my own trace. I only had to make a couple of small changes to the design to nail that last 1% of the sound. After getting the sound down I added a couple of ideas of my own. A redesigned power section and simplified true bypass switching.
This is my final version of the circuit and I couldn't be happier with the result and I hope you love playing with it as much as I do.

Controls:
Drive - Controls the character of the fuzz/ distortion, turn it down for a fat overdriven sound. Turn it up and flip the switch to Hard mode and you're in synthy square wave heaven.
Clean - The level of the clean signal.
Fuzz - The level of the fuzz/distortion.
Gate - Controls how loud the input signal must be for the fuzz to engage. Handy for killing any background noise from the fuzz signal when you're not playing or creating more synth like tones.
Soft/Hard Switch - Softer "classic" fuzz tones on the left, more aggressive on the right.
Mid Shift - subtle change to mid frequencies, not on the original Brown Dog.

- True bypass switching with a soft click switch.
- SMD circuit board design with Panasonic film and electrolytic capacitors.
- 3.5mm ENV out for link feature with The Silver Funk, also compatible with Chunk Systems 00Funk with a 3.5mm to 6.5mm mono cable (not included).
- Signature UV status LED with adjustable brightness via internal trimpot.
- Textured matte black powder coat finished aluminum with fiberglass faceplate. White/Silver Marshall style knobs.
